Abby Sarrett-Cooper

MA, LPC

Abby is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passionate commitment to effective treatment for struggling individuals and families.  Toward that goal she integrates proven, evidence based treatments that promote change with acceptance and compassionate attention to the specific and changing needs of her clients.  Abby is committed to ongoing continuing education in treatments with research supporting their efficacy for eating disorders, emotional dysregulation, anxiety disorders and family conflict.  She works  with children ages seven to twelve, adolescents and adults on both an individual or family basis which may be a couple, nuclear or extended family. Abby also leads DBT skills classes for adults and adolescents and their families, as well as groups for the treatment of eating disorders.

Abby earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Caldwell College in New Jersey and then taught courses in Child Development,Adolescent Development, General Psychology and Psychopathology within the Psychology Department at Caldwell College for ten years.  She has also had training at the doctoral level in Clinical Psychology at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University.  Her training and background in both counseling and clinical psychology has provided Abby with a unique vantage point from which to help individuals and families differentiate the typical developmentally based challenges from more significant problems.  Abby is a member of the American Counseling Association, New Jersey Counseling Association, National Eating Disorder Association and the Academy of Eating Disorders.  Abby has been intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and is part of an intensively-trained DBT team: DBT Consultants for Eating Disorders.  She has also been trained by the developers of FBT or the Maudsley method for child and adolescent eating disorders, and is currently under consultation to be certified in this evidence based treatment.  DBT and FBT provide a framework for effective change that is compassionate, non-blaming and non-judgmental.

Abby has worked in college counseling centers, public schools and as a speaker for community, professional and school groups where she has designed courses, workshops and presentation for both adolescent and
adults.  In the media she has appeared as an on air guest on One to One with Steve Adubato and Lite FM 106.7, WLTW-FM and has been interviewed for PARENTING magazine and MORRIS/ESSEX Health and Life Magazine.

Vickie Woertz

RD, LSW

Vickie is a Licensed Social Worker and a Registered Dietitian who is committed to providing comprehensive nutrition and mental health counseling. She believes that all clients have the strength and ability to make positive changes to improve their physical and mental health. She specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, emotional dysregulation, body image difficulties, sports nutrition and non-diet approaches to health and wellness. Vickie provides individual nutrition therapy, individual counseling, groups for the treatment of eating disorders, meal support, nutrition education, Fear Food Challenge groups, co-leads DBT skills classes for adults and provides presentations for the community and professional settings.

Vickie earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science from Syracuse University. She is a member of the American Dietetic Association, NASW (National Association of Social Workers), the AED (Academy for Eating Disorders) and NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association). She is intensively trained in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and is part of an intensively-trained DBT team: DBT Consultants for Eating Disorders. Her work is greatly informed by the non-judgmental and validating tenets of DBT as well as the fundamental principles of FBT or the Maudlsey method for child and adolescent eating disorders. Vickie has over 12 years of experience working in the field of eating disorders including working in various treatment modalities and levels of care including inpatient, day treatment, intensive outpatient and private practice settings. She has also worked or interned in college counseling centers including Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania and Kean University. Additionally, she has been a presenter for various school, community and professional groups in the field of nutrition.
